Billie Holiday, best known for her soulful and unique singing voice, is a superstar in American jazz. Recording with the greats of the period – Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, and
Artie Shaw, to name a few – “Lady Day” (Holiday) recorded over 100 songs from the 1930’s -50’s until her untimely death at the age of 44. Holiday’s masterpieces are as well known today as they
were decades ago, and her “poignant voice is still considered to be one of the greatest jazz voices of all time.” (billyholiday.com)
